Quote by markjoHer pose looks a bit weird,
though - on the original scan she is using some kind of a weapon and the
character alone here lacks to me a purpose.
I see what you
mean there. Actually I rotated the scan so her sleeves could cover up more
space. Maybe it's not so weird that she has her hands behind her head (she could
be stretching ) but it's rather because of her awkward angle that everything looks
a little odd?
Now that you pointed it out to me it kind of bugs me, maybe I'll try to change
something, no promises though.

I'd probably go for it.
Hi markjo ^_^ It was nice to hear from you on the comment you made on the last
scan i submitted
I hope you're doing well. I'd love to get some of your news if you have the
time.
As for me, i'm finishing my last uni year. I already found a job for next year
and i'll have to move living to the city as a big boy ^_^
Quote: Although the tattoo with the
roses seems to be a bit unrealistic (I'm not sure you can get such colours), the
lady herself is loveliness impersonated. Great work with body proportions and
kudos to you for the concept of the work.
Hello, markjo!
Tattoos are difficult to depict with pencils especially when is the first time
painting one (xD). But I can't see why the colors aren't possible... Miami Ink's
cast works with amazing colored tattoos that look painting! From watching them
I've got inspired to produce pieces like "The living rose vase".
I'm glad you liked proportions and the concept! Thanks a lot!
This work is a very special one to me!
Cya'round!
Quote: I think I'd love to see it
with a caption (something with a 'bullet' in it) - would complete the Valentine
card look and I could actually send it around.
I always have so many problems with putting in text, I never know what kind of
font I should use and where it should be put, so often I just leave it out.
I'd also like to say something considering one of your guestbook entries:
Quote: What I mean is, you said you
feel rather not creative lately since you only vector scans and change colours.
I once argued here in MT whether vectoring is an art considering the same
points. I was strongly for the idea and I gave Warhol as an example. With his
Marylin Moroe portraits he basically did the same and nobody disputes the
artistic values of his work, right? To me vectoring is an alternative view of an
existing piece of art and therefore an art itself.
It's not like I think that my works don't have artistic value, in fact I'm doing
all my Miggy wallpapers because I want to create something out of the original
that people can put on their desktop, something that looks less confusing and
colourful than the original. But at the same time when I look at works of other
people like arterlier for example, I feel a little inferior because their walls
seem to burst with ideas. Then again it's not like I'm always doing unoriginal
stuff, so lately I've been quite content.
I hope you can get the hang of what I mean
Quote by markjoI love all those cuhions!
They make me wanna curl up in my bed and go to sleep...
A great, colourful wallpaper, goes to my favourites for
sure.
Quote by markjoMy, my, my - you've been
busy! Excellent wallpaper and all those details should give you a sense of
accomplishment as the outlook was definitely worth the
effort.
This is really one of the walls I'm most pleased with myself, even more than
with my Miggy stuff, the thought that it would look great kept me at work.
I'm glad you like the wallie as well.

Quote by markjoNeither am I. On general I
watch really little anime and a few live-action series, I prefer feature films,
though I think I am familiar with the classics, e.g. Akira, GitS, Cowboy Bebop
and Interstella 5555.
Btw, I always forget to thank you for your feature gallery, it kinda helps me to
keep up-to-date after a longer break from MT...
The anime thing goes in fits and starts for me. Generally I prefer manga because
I read faster, and can stop whenever I want instead of investing time into 20
minute episodes... but lately I've discovered some really great anime series,
especially Nodame Cantabile so that's gotten me back in the mood again.
Glad you find the featured gallery helpful, I think that's the first time
someone told me that, it's good to hear

Quote by markjoGreetings from a fellow
sucker for black, white, and red. And congratulations on both the new version of
your site and new widescreen monitor
.
Yay for black, white, and red <3! Much thanks
Quote by markjoI have got to give you a
lot of credit for the title entangled in the web - I almost missed it because of
the intricacy of the design...
Actually the title was part of the original scan, so I can't take any credit for
it lol - just a simple vector-trace. I wish I was that good/creative with
freehand designs like that, but so far I've only done some very basic things
down that line...
Quote by markjoI must admit, though, that
the manga got really complicated towards the end - I had to read some chapters
twice to untangle the plot...
Haha yeah... I think towards the end I just zipped through, probably lost a lot
of the finer nuances in the plot. Enough to still enjoy the final showdown of
course, but yeah... the first arc was definitely more enjoyable.
Quote by markjoLove the series - after
'Hana Yori Dango' and 'Hanazakari no Kimitachi e' this is a great read for a bit
more mature people. A devoted shoujo fan, as you can see
.
I'm definitely starting to swing back into the shoujo genre because of Nodame
Cantabile. HYD I only read bits and pieces, despite it being a classic... I did
like what I read though Hana
Kimi I watched a few of the early Taiwanese live action episodes. Seemed like a
fun show, but I wasn't a tremendous fan. Then again I'm generally not a live
action person... yeah
Quote by markjoI love the colour and
character choice. Any chance for 1600x1200 res?
Plz?
xD actually you can see it at AP, but theen if you dont have any AP account, you
can wait >x] i think i'm going to upload it on my site xDD;;
i'll tell you when i have put it there ;DD

Hello Joanna,
thank you very much for the comment and fav on "ne me quitte pas"...
Hmm.. well whenever I try to make wallpapers the ideas are just kind of dropping
into my mind. I never know from the start what it will look like... During the
progress I hear and see things that influence it... ^^
How are things going for you?
I am trying to hand in my diploma work end of October...
I'm always really happy when you like my works.
Thank you!

Quote by markjoI need to look at the group
closer, but right now I'm head over heels in love with the art deco period and
Tamara de Lempicka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lempicka). I have recently
re-discovered her after one of the discussion sessions at university where we
discussed feminism in music videos. We included Madonna, of course, and her
Vogue music video, where, at the very beginning, there are a few canvas with
Lempicka's paintings. I remembered from one of the interviews with Madonna that
she bought a few of Lempicka's paintings and I took an interest in the painter.
Currently, I'm reading one of a few books I found about her, and I'm
appreciating the art.
Btw, we also mentioned Madonna's Express Yourself and that led to Fritz Lang's
Metropolis and anime with the same title... Believe me, it was a very
interesting discussion that tended to stray in different directions .
I adore Tamara de Lempicka's art as well. i especially like the elements of
cubism she used in her artworks. I had no idea she was born in Poland and was a
wealthy socialite; although I shouldn't have been surprised as I am quite
familiar with her "Self Portrait With a Bugatti". Personally i am
partial towards her works focusing on one woman, primarily.
A lot of buildings in New York City for example are built in the art deco vein
and are quite beautiful. I love the Ancient Egyptian & Mayan influences.
That must have been an interesting conversation [i would have loved to been
present myself], I can recall back in school where we watched Madonna's
"Justify My Love" and analyzed it. Fritz Lang's "Metropolis"
is a landmark film and arguably one of the best b&w films [outside of Orson
Welle's "Citizen Kane". I also recommend viewing Batman "The
Animated Series" as the animated movie "Batman: Mask of the
Phantasm".
Quote by markjoSorry, I've looked in both
art-books I have, but no more Noriko Meguro artwork. There's a lot of other
great artists, though, so if you'd like to, I could send you the book over to
the States. I guess I still feel indebted to you for the Yoshitaka Amano
artbook...
Take care,
Joanna.
Thanks for checking, i appreciate that. and you don't owe me anything I am glad
you enjoyed your art-book.
Quote by markjoJudging by the art, as
interesting as it may be, I don't really think I'd like the series if I had a
chance to watch it.
Oh no, i beseech you lady markjo - Lain is a must see anime. Lain concerns a
young girl's journey via the Wired [internet] and her relationship with others
in concert with reality. Very cerebral. Be sure to check out Layer 01.
